questions & care.

how does the soil-free cat grass planter work?
seeds sit in the grow tray above the water reservoir. as they sprout, the roots grow down through the slots to reach the water while the grass grows up through the honeycomb cover.
do i need soil to grow cat grass?
no. the planter is designed for soil-free growing, so there is less dirt for your cat to pull out and spread around the house.
how long does cat grass take to grow?
cat grass is usually ready in around 6–14 days, depending on the seeds, light and room temperature. soak the seeds first, spread them across the tray and keep the water below the tray while they grow.
how do i water the cat grass?
add water directly through either cat ear. use the max line as your guide and keep the water below the grow tray so the seeds are not left fully submerged.
will it stop my cat from pulling out the grass?
the locking honeycomb cover helps hold the root mat and seeds inside the planter, reducing the amount your cat can pull out. it will not stop every determined cat, but it keeps more of the roots in and more of the mess contained.
will the planter move while my cat is eating?
three suction cups help reduce sliding, wobbling and tipping while your cat bites and pulls. they work best on clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces. check the hold before use and reattach the cups if they loosen.
what seeds can i grow in it?
the planter is designed for common cat grass blends such as wheat, oat, barley and rye grass. use seeds sold specifically for growing cat grass.
how do i change the water, clean the planter and deal with an unhealthy batch?
check the water daily and replace it with fresh water if it becomes cloudy or develops an unpleasant smell. lift out the grow tray, empty and rinse the reservoir, then refill below the grow tray using the max line as your guide. between grows, remove all old roots and seeds, take the parts apart and hand-wash with mild soap and lukewarm water. rinse thoroughly and dry before reseeding. if the grass or seeds develop visible mould, slime or a sour smell, keep the batch away from your cat, discard it and clean the planter before starting again with fresh seeds. avoid boiling water, dishwashers, bleach and abrasive cleaners.
